Russell Woods

4203 Sturtevant Street   Detroit, MI 48204   (313) 509-3567

The tree-lined streets of Russell Woods feature homes built in the 1920’s, 1930’s and 1940’s for middle class families during economic booms in the City of Detroit. These mainly single family houses were home to many famous Detroiters including Florence Ballard, Diana Ross and Mary Wilson of The Supremes and renowned poet Dudley Randall, among others. Anchored by many multigenerational home owners, the neighborhood organizes many community events taking advantage of Russell Woods Park. Neighbors look out for each other and share beneficial resources. The Russell Woods-Sullivan Area Association was a key partner in establishing the Brilliant Detroit hub in the neighborhood and continues to steward our growth. It is a pleasure to collaborate with a community that shows love for each other and Detroit at large.
