Adjacent to the original Black Bottom neighborhood, McDougall-Hunt is home to the Heidelberg Project, the emerging Bailey Park, and a group of neighbors as well-organized as any in the city. The residents of this community formed the McDougall-Hunt Neighborhood Association to develop a safe and healthy neighborhood through collaborative community-based planning, community action, and policy advocacy. This association works with leading organizations, including the Bailey Park Neighborhood Development Corporation and Eastside Community Network, to build capacity and facilitate resident-led neighborhood development. Brilliant Detroit is one of the leading organizations the residents of McDougall-Hunt are currently working with to ensure kid success; we cannot wait to see what the future holds.
