SHARE Detroit is a community engagement conduit, supporting the work of nonprofits in Detroit by mobilizing volunteers and donors since 2021. Their platform provides nonprofits with connections to corporate and community groups and increases visibility overall. Brilliant Detroit is proud to be one of the 20 founding nonprofit partners of SHARE Detroit. Reflecting back on the beginnings of SHARE Detroit, Executive Director Karly Moore said, “Having such a well-respected organization believe in the value of what we were building helped establish trust within the community and gave momentum to our early efforts. [Brilliant Detroit’s] support from the very beginning has always meant a lot to our team.”
Brilliant Detroit’s long-running partnership with SHARE Detroit was a natural fit from the start. Both organizations exist to strengthen communities. While Brilliant’s focus is on providing neighborhoods and families with the resources they need to thrive, SHARE Detroit does the same for nonprofits across Metro Detroit. SHARE and Brilliant Detroit both understand the power of relationships and lifting up the expertise of partners. Brilliant Detroit works with over 250 partners to provide the highest quality programming at our neighborhood hubs. Likewise, SHARE Detroit now works with over 500 nonprofits, offering a range of ways that the community can support issues that are most meaningful to them. Drew Reynolds from Brilliant Detroit’s Volunteer Team shared her gratitude for SHARE Detroit praising how “it fosters local connections and brings together people who are passionate about making a meaningful impact. Everyone I’ve connected with through SHARE usually includes a paragraph about why they’re interested in volunteering, which demonstrates that the platform was thoughtfully designed to engage dedicated and passionate individuals.”
Brilliant Detroit’s Volunteer Team frequently uses the platform, sharing over 50 volunteer opportunities since SHARE launched. Many volunteers have connected with us through SHARE’s platform, in fact, we received the most applications out of any nonprofit partner. Connections made through SHARE are valuable and often blossom into something more than a one time service project. One example is how Brilliant Detroit was connected with Ally Financial, who have generously supported us through beautification projects, packaging back-to-school literacy kits, contributing to our annual Thanksgiving food drives, and attending various community events. Individual volunteers have also gone on to make an outsize impact. One volunteer who discovered us through a SHARE Detroit newsletter and is now collaborating with our programming team to develop a new music program.
Our partnership with SHARE is founded on mutual admiration and a shared desire to make the world a better place. Both Brilliant and SHARE Detroit highlighted one another’s responsiveness and thoughtfulness. In speaking about Brilliant Detroit, Karly said, “They’re an ideal partner not just to us, but to the entire community.” Our team agreed that they say the same of SHARE Detroit!
