| DESCRIP: | The Sensory-Focused STEM & Health Literacy Toolkit is an early childhood initiative designed to support learning and family engagement within Brilliant Detroit’s neighborhood hubs. Featuring plush anatomical “Nerdbugs,” interactive activity books, and caregiver-friendly guides, the toolkit introduces major human organs through playful, hands-on experiences that meet the needs of neurodiverse, visual, and kinesthetic learners. Grounded in research on tactile learning and early literacy, the program helps children build vocabulary, comprehension, curiosity, and social-emotional skills while making complex science and health concepts accessible and memorable. By integrating this toolkit into Brilliant Detroit’s family hubs, the program empowers caregivers as first teachers, strengthens school readiness, and fosters community connection around health, education, and lifelong well-being. |
